This is an amazing little package! "Gator", as he is affectionately called, is perfectly compact and athletic, but still elegant and refined. His white hind socks are perfectly matched. He has a fabulous walk and trot, and we think his canter will be equally lovely.
He has a wonderful attitude and demeanor. The horses were going wild on the walker right next to us, and he didn't bat an eye. He stood beautifully for photos and jogged along without a care in the world. His trainer believes in giving them a well-rounded foundation while training, so he has hacked out on trails, done ring work, and even popped over a few small jumps. He is a bit mouthy and does like to chew on you or the rope when you hold him. He does not crib.
He is unraced. He initially went into the starting gate ok, but then decided he didn't want to go in anymore. They worked with him, and he went into the start gate, but when they opened it, he didn't want to leave it. The trainer and owner have decided that he clearly doesn't want to race and would make a better sport horse. He could show, event, do barrels, or western pleasure. He could also do anything else you wish to do.
He has no known injuries or vices. He is currently barefoot.

All horses are located at Fairmount Park Racetrack in Collinsville, IL 62234, just minutes from St. Louis, Missouri. We’re conveniently located within about 4.5 hours (or closer) of many major cities, including Lexington, Louisville, Memphis, Nashville, Indianapolis, Chicago, Kansas City, Cincinnati, and Columbus.
Each horse is for sale directly by its owner, who determines the purchase price. Gateway Off-Track Thoroughbreds is here to connect you with the owner, guide you through the process, and provide a written bill of sale for your records.
A few important reminders:
All horses listed with Gateway OTTBs are active racehorses with no training beyond the track (unless otherwise noted). They are not suitable for beginners or children without further training.
For safety reasons, riding on racetrack property is not permitted without a valid state racing license.
Free-motion or lunge videos are not available since these horses are stabled at the racetrack.
Horses may continue to race until sold. You can view upcoming entries and full records through the Equibase link provided.
We always recommend scheduling a veterinary pre-purchase exam.
