Fade from Black is one we have been watching since he was a 2 year old and we are thrilled that he is finally for sale! He was not a very talented racehorse, but is adored and loved and very well-taken care of. His barn name is Wilbur, as he is as kind and sweet as Wilbur is in the book Charlotte's Web!
Wilbur stands between 16.2 and16.3 hands tall, and is still remarkably dark grey. He is sired by the amazing Ride the Lightning and from a Macho Uno mare. Wilbur loves treats, he stands well, behaves well and is easy to handle and be around. He is a big muscular guy, very well put-together, and moves extremely well. He will be an amazing sport horse. His owner said he loves the longer races - perfect for XC! We could also see him in the hunter ring, or as an impressive dressage boy!
Coming back from a race a year ago, Wilbur had some swelling in his left fore. The vet examined it at the time and could find no acute injury. The owner chose to give him some time off and we were at the barn in early April with the vet, when the owner had an ultrasound done, and he could find no signs of previous injury despite slight enlargement in that area. He is sound and eager to get back to work.
Wilbur recently had his shoes pulled, as he is no longer in training, and was a tiny bit footsore on the pavement today. You can hear in the videos that his footfall is even. With a few days (or new shoes), he will be back to being perfect. We have uploaded video as well from late march, when he is shod, and you can see the difference.
Wilbur is a family member and much loved, and only the best homes will be considered. Please be prepared with references. We are looking for a forever home, not a resale situation. His owners want Wilbur to be as loved in his next home as he currently is.
